COARC Saturday in the Apiary

October 13, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm OSU Central Oregon Ag Research Center 850 NW Dogwood Lane Madras, OR 97741 541-475-7107 Please come and join us for another day of hive inspections. We will check the colonies for winter readiness. Are they strong enough or do we have to combine a couple hives? How much more feed (sugar syrup and pollen patties) do they need? Were our mite treatment applications successful?

Learn how to do a winter treatment with oxalic acid: we will do a demonstration with a “dummy” solution.

Apprentices in the Oregon Master Beekeeping Program can earn education points.

RSVP required. Please email Heike Williams at heike.williams@oregonstate.edu for details and notification of possible changes. This event is weather dependent. Remember to bring your hat/veil/gloves and water. Looking forward to seeing you!

* “Saturday in the Apiary” is a casual, loosely structured event intended to provide a learning experience in a relaxed setting. We perform hive inspections, discuss colony management strategies for the month, and implement them. Everyone who is comfortable being around live honey bees is welcome. You would need to bring your own gear. This is a free event.

Save the date (subject to change): Next Saturday in the Apiary November 17 – time TBA
